Xive – Surgery

Surgical flexibility with Xive

Xive helps you achieve safe and predictable results in all your patient cases. Xive offers implant widths and lengths to match the variations in jaw anatomy. The special thread design guarantees safe and atraumatic implant placement, even in the hardest cortical bone. And the cylindrical implant body optimizes the use of available bone volume, even in anatomically complex situations, making additional grafting procedures often unnecessary. 

You can place Xive using either conventional or computer-guided treatment planning. Determining the appropriate treatment planning is based on a comprehensive consultation with your patient, to determine exactly what the patient wants and expects from the treatment, discover any possible contraindications, and to explain the treatment in detail to the patient.

Conventional treatment planning

Radiographic templates

A transparent template can be used to superimpose implant images upon radiographs to help you plan implant placement. Templates are implant-specific and provide different magnifications that correspond to the radiograph magnification.

Surgical template

A thermoformed splint with radiographic balls that can be accurately repositioned in the patient’s mouth. It can be subsequently modified to a conventionally fabricated surgical template. The pre-prosthetic planning is simplified with the Friadent Select components.

Simplant – Computer-guided treatment planning

Simplant dental planning software provides you with accurate and predictable surgery options. It will help you to assess your patients’ anatomy and its exact relationship to the proposed restoration. Treatment planning is easily communicated to your dental team, your dental laboratory, and the patient – everyone can see and understand what the treatment entails.
  • Safe three-dimensional planning in the sub-millimeter range and with reference to the desired restoration.
  • Automatic collision control, which displays too narrow clearances between implants or to the nerve.
  • Information on peri-implant bone quality for accurate conclusions on the expected primary stability.

Whether you are filling the narrowest gap or an edentulous jaw, in hard or soft bone, in a single- or two-stage protocol – immediate loading or delayed loading – you always have an appropriate solution available with Xive. 

The implant range of Xive includes subgingival Xive S and transgingival Xive TG, in diameters from 3.0–5.5 mm and lengths from 8–18 mm. Additionally, because the endosseous portion is identical, you use the same instruments for site preparation and can determine which implant to place during the surgical procedure.

The implant design of Xive combines a cylindrical implant body and the patented thread design – with a condensing crestal section – to ensure safe and atraumatic implant placement with optimal primary stability in all types of bone.

The unique three-section hybrid with Friadent plus surface promotes stable adhesion of bone-forming cells and induces bone formation, while the slight extension of the implant shoulder tightly seals the cervical gap between bone and implant and makes placing prosthetic components easy.

With Xive, you can easily and efficiently manage and adapt to different conditions and treatment modalities, including:

Xive features three pre-assembled modular surgical kits that can be customized with additional modules according to your clinical preferences. Clear pictograms and system-specific color-coding ensures easy user guidance during surgery. All instruments are securely fixed in silicon holders. 

Xive Surgical Kit D 3.0–5.5 mm / S + L

Supports the full implant assortment including Xive TG. Includes all instruments required for the placement of Xive Implants in diameters from 3.0–5.5 mm – lengths of instruments S (short) and L (long).

Xive Surgical Kit D 3.0–3.8 mm / S

Streamlined content for the most commonly used implants. Includes all instruments required for the placement of Xive Implants diameters from 3.0–3.8 mm – lengths of instruments S (short).

Xive Surgical Kit D 3.0 mm / S + L

Minimum content only for narrow implants. Includes all instruments required for the placement of Xive Implants diameters from 3.0 mm – lengths of instruments S (short) and L (long).

With Xive, you can modify the surgical protocol during preparation depending on the bone quality. The drilling protocol has been designed to provide you with total control when preparing osteotomies, matching your clinical treatment approach and delivering optimal primary implant stability – thanks to the combination of a bone-specific preparation protocol and condensing implant thread design. 

Convenient drilling options

Multiple-use twist drills for Xive are available in two lengths:

  • Xive twist drill S (short) for easy handling, e.g., in the posterior region.
  • Xive twist drill L (long) for the anterior region and for the maximum implant length of 18 mm.

Color-coded rings identifying the lengths of the Xive twist drills, combined groove and laser markers (zebra design) indicating the depths of preparation, make it easy to read the markers during surgery. Two-edged profile drill design provides excellent cutting properties to ensure efficient site preparation.

Bone-specific preparation

By varying the preparation of the crestal section of the implant site depending on the type of bone in combination with the condensing implant design, Xive achieves excellent primary stability in all types of bone – atraumatic and gentle in hard bone of density (D I), stable and secure in soft bone of density (D IV).

Once the osteotomy has the required implant diameter, the next step is usually crestal preparation of the bone to adapt it to the clinical situation.

The drilling depth of the crestal drill is varied depending on the bone density, while the osteotomy preparation ensures ideal conditions for not loading the cortical bone during placement of Xive screw implants.
